The Zias (0-0)...are ready to get their 1997-98 season underway. ENMU has lost the services of sophomore wing Jon Alair (6-0, Canyon, Texas) for the season. Alair, a 28-game starter last season, had ankle surgery last week.

This Week's Opponents...the Zias begin the season on the road with Lone Star Conference crossover games. Games against North Division schools will not count towards conference standings.

Cameron University is 0-1 with a loss to Oklahoma Panhandle State on Friday, 64-56. The Aggies had four players in double figure scoring - Stacia McCarter (15), Vendula Mouchova (13), Martina Tadic (12), and Lisa Wilson (10). McCarter, Mouchova and Wilson are seniors, while Tadic is a junior. Tadic and junior Kelley DeLaCruz each had nine rebounds for the Aggies.

Southwestern Oklahoma State University is 1-0 going into Tuesday night's game with Phillips University. They will also play Thursday night against West Texas A&M. The Lady Bulldogs beat the University of Science and Arts on Saturday, 83-58. SWOSU was led by senior LaTisha Lang and junior Nelly Onjiko with 16 points each. Onjiko also had a team-high 9 nine rebounds.

SWOSU was an NAIA national runner-up last season and is currently #2 in the NAIA Division I preseason ratings. The Lady Bulldogs are not eligible to compete for the NCAA Division II title this season. They, along with Southeastern Oklahoma State, Northeastern State and East Central, are completing their NCAA probationary membership period.

On the Airwaves...107.5 KSMX-FM will be broadcasting several Zia basketball games. Don Elder and Travis Barger will handle the play-by-play and color commentary for the ENMU home games. KSMX will pick up feeds of the Zia road games whenever possible.

Weekly Radio Show...Don Elder will also be hosting the ENMU Coaches Show on 107.5 KSMX-FM every Wednesday night at 7:00 pm from Juanito's Restaurant on Avenue C in Portales. Different ENMU coaches will join Elder to give updates on the progress of their teams throughout the winter and spring.

SportsLook...will broadcast on KENW-TV Channel 3 on Thursday nights. The show will air at 9:30 pm on November 20, then resume the 9:00 pm start on November 27. Hosted by Dallan Sanders, Sports Look will air thru finals week then take a break for the holidays. The show will resume when classes resume in January. Sports Look is an ENMU student-run production.

Ticket Prices...Reserved seats (Sections A-C behind the benches) are available for $4.00. General admission tickets are $2.00. Seasons tickets are still available for reserved seating at $35.00 for all Greyhound and Zia basketball games.
