#4 Angelo State Wins Battle with Greyhounds and Wind, 16-7

(Blackwater Draw, N.M.) --- Angelo State University and Eastern New Mexico University battled each other and winds strong enough for a tornado watch in the Blackwater Draw area Saturday night. The #4 NCAA Division II Rams beat the Greyhounds, 16-7.

ASU senior quarterback Erik Hartman led the Ram offense with 152 yards passing (11-22-1) and 65 yards rushing. He connected with leading receiver Chris Brazzell five times, including a 24-yard touchdown with 3:17 left in the game to put the Rams up 16-7.

Eastern New Mexico had made their only touchdown of the game with 8:09 left in the game on a Bruce Hatch 15-yard run (Brian Cocking PAT). That put the Hounds to within 3, 10-7. Hatch was the second leading rusher for the Hounds with 66 yards on 16 carries.

Senior quarterback Andy Cavalier made his second start of the season for ENMU. He was the leading rusher with 75 yards on 10 carries. He also completed three passes out of 10 (1 INT) fro 39 yards.

Angelo State is now 5-0 overall, 4-0 in the LSC and 2-0 in the LSC-South. They host Abilene Christian in their homecoming game next week.

Eastern New Mexico is now 3-3 overall, 1-3 in the LSC and 0-2 in the LSC-South. They travel to Tarleton State for the Texans homecoming game next Saturday at 1:00 pm (MT).
