Greyhounds Off to a 3-0 Start

(Blackwater Draw, N.M.) --- The Eastern New Mexico University football team opened Lone Star Conference action with a 21-12 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The first half saw only one score with ENMU's Todd Wallis rushing in for three-yards with 14:57 remaining in the second quarter. The PAT by Brian Cocking gave the Greyhounds a 7-0 halftime lead.

The second half saw ENMU redshirt freshman quarterback Brady Bazzell score his first collegiate touchdown on a two-yard run with 9:15 left in the third quarter to put the Hounds up 14-0. SWOSU got on the board shortly there after with a Branden Montgomery 36-yard interception return. Sophomore Hound Josh Arp blocked the PAT to keep the score 14-6, ENMU.

ENMU's Brian Hulett blocked a Kyle Bengs 36-yard field goal attempt with 13:30 left in the game. With 9:00 left in the game ENMU fullback Bruce Hatch made a 20-yard run to put the Hounds up 21-6. But the Bulldogs were not finished. SWOSU quarterback Brad Woodard connected with Damon Willis for a 54-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion failed, giving ENMU a 21-12 victory.

The Greyhounds are now 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in the LSC. They travel to Southeastern Oklahoma State University next Saturday for a 1:30 pm start in Durant, Oklahoma. The Bulldogs are now 0-3 overall, 0-2 in the LSC.
