ENMU Men's Rodeo Team finishes 4th at College Daze

(Portales, N.M.) --- The Eastern New Mexico University men's rodeo team finished in fourth place at their own rodeo with 147.5 points. The Greyhounds accumulated points in the bareback riding, bull riding and team roping events. Vernon Regional Junior College won the men's division with 320 points, while Western Texas College won the women's competition with 355 points.

ENMU's Tanner Trujillo (Los Alamos) finished second in the bull riding competition. He scored a 74 in the long round to advance to the short-go where he rode for a 78, a combined 152 points. Ryan Grandi (Corrales) and Craig Chavez (Peralta) also advanced to the short-go, but did not receive a score in the finals.

Brad Long (Raton) took fourth place in the bareback riding program. He scored a 66 to advance to the finals where he rode for a 71, giving him a combined score of 137.

Kyle Stamps (Clovis) earned second place in the team roping with his teammate Clay Lewis of Vernon Regional Junior College. Stamps and Lewis advanced to the finals with a 7.2, taking second with an 8.4.

The Zia rodeo team did not score any points but had one competitor advance to the finals. Brandi Curtis (Roswell) advanced to the finals with a 9.1 in goat tying. She was unable to get a time in the finals to place.
