*=LSC-South Games

Zia Softball (22-25-1, 8-8 LSC-South)...will have to sit back this weekend and see if the other four schools in the LSC-South Division cooperate for ENMU to advance to the LSC Tournament on May 1-2. The Zias are currently tied for third with Abilene Christian. The top two teams in each division advance to the LSC Championship Tournament at the site of the North Division winner.

The Zias wrap up regular season action this week against intrastate rivals New Mexico Highlands and Western New Mexico. The Cowgirls come into Wednesday's home doubleheader with a 22-22 record. The teams split a doubleheader earlier this season in Las Vegas. ENMU will travel to Silver City for a weekend series with the Lady Mustangs. WNMU holds a 3-2-1 lead in this season's series.

LSC-South Division Hitter of the Week for April 6-12: Sophomore second baseman Julie Smith (Albuquerque) has made her presence known in her shortened season. She missed the first month of the season due to the overlap with basketball. Smith was the starting point guard for the Zia basketball team this season.

Senior first baseman Jennifer Doolittle (Aurora, Colo.) continues to tear up opponents from the plate. Doolittle leads the team in hitting (.464), hits (70), runs (47), RBI (59), doubles (14), triples (7), home runs (5), and walks (17). She has only struck out 5 times in 151 at bats and has a 13-game hitting streak.

Greyhound Baseball (17-30, 1-11 LSC-South)...travel to Lawton, Oklahoma this weekend for a battle of the basement in the LSC-South Division with Cameron University. The Aggies have a 15-28 overall record and are tied with ENMU for 5th in the South Division at 1-11. ENMU wraps up the regular season next weekend with a home series against Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Senior second baseman Steven Heredia (Las Cruces) is leading the team in conference play with a .368 batting average. In LSC action he has scored 9 runs and been walked 7 times.

KSEL-AM 1450...will carry the Greyhound home baseball games on May 1 and 2. Don Elder will bring the play-by-play of all the Greyhound action.

Zia Tennis (4-7)...goes into the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament this week with the #7 seed out of 14 teams. They open play on Thursday against 14th seeded East Central University at the campus courts at host Abilene Christian University. Play continues until Saturday.
