Zia Softball (24-28-1, 8-8 LSC-South)...wrapped up its second season with a doubleheader sweep of New Mexico Highlands and a long three-game series at Western New Mexico.

The Zias ended the season in a three-way tie for second place in the Lone Star Conference-South Division. ENMU lost the tiebreaker with Abilene Christian and Texas A&M-Kingsville. Tarleton State ended the regular season as the LSC-South Division champion, while TAMUK advanced to the LSC Tournament as the #2 South seed. The LSC Championship Tournament will be played at the University of Central Oklahoma on May 1-2.

Senior first baseman Jennifer Doolittle (Aurora, Colo.) finished the season with a .470 batting average in 53 games. She is currently 35th in NCAA Division II in hitting and 11th in RBI per game. Doolittle led the team in hits (78), RBI (72), doubles (16), home runs (5), total bases (120), putouts (358), and tied the lead in runs scored (51) and triples (8). Junior outfielder/ designated player Casi Madison (Midland, Texas) tied Doolittle for the lead in triples (8) and was the team's leading base stealer with 13. Freshman center fielder Kim Paschall (Midland, Texas) tied Doolittle in runs scored (51) and was second on the team with 64 hits and 12 stolen bases.

Lone Star Conference post-season awards will be announced on Thursday, April 30 at the LSC Championship Tournament Banquet in Edmond, Oklahoma. National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region teams are scheduled to be announed on Friday, May 8, with All-America being announced at the NCAA National Tournament in Pensacola, Florida on Wednesday, May 13.

Greyhound Baseball (20-31, 4-12 LSC-South)...wrap up their season this weekend with a four-game LSC-South series against Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Javelinas are currently in a three-way tie for first place in the LSC-South (11-5) with Abilene Christian and Tarleton State. The South Division winner hosts the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament May 7-9. Overall the Javelinas are 31-16. Outfielder Steve Foley leads the conference in hitting at .461.

This weekend marks the final games of their collegiate careers for second baseman Steven Heredia (Las Cruces), catcher Tyke Posey (Farmington), and right fielder Scott Henry (Aurora, Colo.). Heredia has been a four-year starter for the Greyhounds. He was an all-LSC selection as a sophomore. Posey has been the starting catcher for the Greyhounds in 1998 and leads the team in home runs (11) and being hit by a pitch (14). Henry has been a two-year starter in right field and currently leads the team in stolen bases with 11.

KSEL-AM 1450...will carry the Greyhound home baseball games on May 1 and 2. Don Elder will bring the play-by-play of all the Greyhound action.
