Schedule change...to replace the cancelled Northern Colorado series, the Greyhounds will be travelling to Las Vegas for two games with New Mexico Highlands. The dates are March 31 and April 1 with the single 9-inning games starting at 2:00 pm.

The Greyhounds (5-11, 0-0 LSC-South)...continued their road adventures last week with a doubleheader sweep of Southwestern Oklahoma and taking one of three from New Mexico State. ENMU beat the Bulldogs last Tuesday, 4-3 and 7-5. Freshman Tim King (Carlsbad) and junior Adrian Tapia (Sierra Vista, Ariz.) picked up complete game wins.

King picked up his second win of the week on Saturday in a 14-11 win over New Mexico State, that was sandwiched by 16-5 and 15-9 losses. Freshman Chris Stewart (Albuquerque) picked up the save in Saturday's win with three innings of solid relief.

Senior second baseman Steve Heredia (Las Cruces) was 7 of 14 in the three-game series in his hometown. Heredia currently leads the team in hitting at .417. Catcher Tyke Posey (Farmington) is second on the team with a .380 batting average and leads the team in runs scored (18), home runs (4), and hit by pitch (10).

This Week...the Greyhounds host the first ever Southwest Shootout at Greyhound Field on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Coming to town are NCAA Division II opponents Fort Hays State University, Metropolitan State College and Tarleton State University, and NAIA neighbor Wayland Baptist University.

Fort Hays State...comes into the tournament with the #18 ranking in NCAA Division II released on Monday. The Tigers, under head coach second-year head coach Bob Fornelli, are scheduled to play Ottawa University before traveling to Portales. They are currently 2-2. Last season the school from Hays, Kansas, lost the NCAA Division II West Regional championship to eventual champion Chico State.

Metro State...comes into the tournament with a 5-2 record. The Roadrunners, under head coach Vince Porreco, are led offensively by outfielder Josh Castro of Farmington with a .462 batting average, 4 home runs and 11 RBI.

Tarleton State...comes to Portales for some non-conference action with a 1-4 record. The Texans, under nine-year head coach Jack Allen, are led offensively by shortstop Victor Sauceda with a .421 batting average and six runs scored.

Wayland Baptist...is playing interstate neighbor West Texas A&M in Plainview today before making the trip to Portales.

Coming Up for the Hounds...are four home dates before the inaugural Lone Star Conference First Pitch Tournament. The Hounds host Oklahoma Panhandle State on March 3 and 4, then coach Phil Clabaugh's alma mater, Northwestern Oklahoma State on March 6 and 7.

Weekly Radio Show...Don Elder will be hosting the ENMU Coaches Show on 107.5 KSMX-FM every Wednesday night at 7:00 pm from Juanito's Restaurant on Avenue C in Portales. Different ENMU coaches will join Elder to give updates on the progress of their teams throughout the spring.
