A memorial service for ENMU Intramural Director Wallace Maxwell will be held on Wed., March 11 at 2:00 pm at the ENMU Intramural Fields on University Drive. He also served as the game administrator at ENMU athletic events. Maxwell, 45, passed away on Wednesday, March 4.

Zia Softball (7-14-1, 0-0 LSC-South)...are taking a break this week to gear up for one final week of non-conference action. Last week the Zias lost a tough doubleheader to NCAA Division I Texas Tech, 10-2 and 9-1. They also lost to Texas Woman's University, 2-0 in the first round of the LSC First Pitch Tournament in Lawton, Oklahoma before the proceedings were called due to heavy rains.

Senior first baseman Jenn Doolittle (Aurora, Colorado) leads the team in hitting with a .444 average. She also has 23 runs scored, 27 RBI, six doubles, four triples and two home run. Freshmen pitchers Jennifer Harrer (Albuquerque) and Suzy Seitzinger (Bloomfield) lead the way on the pitching staff. Harrer is 3-6 with a 2.77 ERA, while Seitzinger is 2-2 with a 5.58 ERA. Seitzinger plays left field when she is not pitching.

Up Next...the Zias host Western New Mexico University on March 17 and 18 at 1:00 pm before playing in the Emporia State Invitational in Kansas, March 20-21.

Greyhound Baseball (11-14, 0-0 LSC-South)...will take their five-game winning streak into the first-ever Lone Star Conference First Pitch Tournament since the expansion of the LSC to 13 baseball teams. ENMU will begin Friday against Southwestern Oklahoma State and Central Oklahoma. SWOSU is currently 5-11 on the season, while 1997 national runner-up UCO is 12-1. On Saturday, the Greyhounds will play Ouachita Baptist and Harding. OBU is 1-4, while HU is 3-9.

Eastern New Mexico will be the most experienced team at the tournament with 25 games under their belt. Texas A&M-Kingsville (12-7) is next with 19 games played in 1998.

Junior first baseman Zac Fox (Rialto, Calif.) leads the team in hitting with a .383 average thru 16 games. Freshman outfielder/pitcher Chris Stewart (Albuquerque) is second in limited action at .381, while senior second baseman Steve Heredia (Las Cruces) is hitting .380 and leads the team in doubles with nine. Senior right fielder Scott Henry (Aurora, Colo.) moved into the stolen base lead last week with 7. Ten Greyhounds are batting over .300.

Freshman pitcher Tim King (Carlsbad) is currently 5-2 with a 5.26 ERA. He is tied for the lead on the team in strikeouts with 35. King picked up wins last week over Oklahoma Panhandle State and Northwestern Oklahoma State. Junior Adrian Tapia (Sierra Vista, Ariz.) evened up his record to 3-3 with a win over Northwestern Oklahoma State.

KSEL-AM 1450...will carry home Greyhound baseball games. Don Elder will bring the play-by-play of all the Greyhound action.

Up Next...the Greyhounds host Wayland Baptist University on Tuesday, March 17 at 6:00 pm at Greyhound Field before taking a week off.

The Zia Tennis Team is taking some time off until March 20. They are currently 3-3 in dual matches and ranked #26 in NCAA Division II.
