The Zia Tennis Team is taking some time off until March 20. They are currently 3-3 in dual matches and ranked #26 in NCAA Division II.

Zia Softball (7-11-1, 0-0 LSC-South)...play their home opener on Wednesday against NCAA Division I Texas Tech. The Lady Raiders, under head coach Renee Luers-Gillispie, have won the three meetings between the teams so far this season, 9-1, 3-0 and 4-2.

The Zias will travel to Lawton, Oklahoma for the Lone Star Conference First Pitch Tournament. They will face South Division foe Texas Woman's University, then two North Division opponents in Cameron University and East Central University on Friday. Teams will then be seeded in bracket play on Saturday.

Senior first baseman Jenn Doolittle (Aurora, Colorado) leads the team in hitting with a .469 average. She also has 22 runs scored, 25 RBI, six doubles, four triples and one home run. Freshmen pitchers Jennifer Harrer (Albuquerque) and Suzy Seitzinger (Bloomfield) lead the way on the pitching staff. Harrer is 3-4 with a 2.50 ERA, while Seitzinger is 2-2 with a 4.71 ERA. Seitzinger plays left field when she is not pitching.

Up Next...the Zias will take a week off before hosting Western New Mexico University and playing in the Emporia State Invitational in Kansas.

Greyhound Baseball (6-14, 0-0 LSC-South)...continue their home stand this week on Tuesday and Wednesday against Oklahoma Panhandle State. The Aggies, under first year head coach Randy Alvarez, are 1-15.

The home stand continues into the weekend with a three-game series against ENMU head coach Phil Clabaugh's alma mater, Northwestern Oklahoma State.

Senior second baseman Steve Heredia (Las Cruces) leads the team in hitting with a .371 average. He is also tied for the lead in stolen bases with five. Seven Greyhounds are batting over .300.

Freshman pitcher Tim King (Carlsbad) had ENMU's only win in the Southwest Shootout last week with a complete game 10-7 win over nationally-ranked Fort Hays State on Friday. King is currently 3-2 with a 6.38 ERA. He is second on the team in strikeouts with 20.

KSEL-AM 1450...will begin carrying Greyhound baseball home games on Tuesday, March 3. Don Elder will bring the play-by-play of all the Greyhound action.
