CROSS COUNTRY (LSC MEET IS NEXT)
The Eastern New Mexico cross country teams will compete at the Lone Star Conference Cross Country Meet this Saturday (Oct. 24) at Texas A&M-Kingsville. Men’s teams will run an 8K race, and women’s teams will run a 6K race. Last year, Abilene Christian swept the men’s and women’s titles.

Eastern’s top threat on the men’s team is Hawk Harris (Jr., Hobbs, NM/Hobbs H.S.), who set a season personal best of 28:40.09 in an 8K race at Texas Tech. Other top runners on the men’s team are junior Henry Varela (Pecos, TX/Pecos H.S.), and sophomore Juan Castanon (Carlsbad, NM/Carlsbad H.S.).

The top runner on the women’s team is Mindy Clark (So., Carlsbad, NM/Carlsbad H.S.). She finished a 6K race against West Texas A&M in 27:39.27 on Sept. 26. Eastern’s other key runners are Jennifer Voris (So., Albuquerque, NM/Eldorado H.S.), Veronica Samaniego (Jr., Sonora, TX/Sonora H.S.) and Michele Rice (Fr., Carlsbad, NM/Carlsbad H.S.).
