VOLLEYBALL Eastern opened the week with a 15-7, 15-7, 15-8 win at New Mexico Highlands. The Zias are 2-0 against the Cowgirls this season. Heather DesMarais (Jr., RS, Yakima, WA/Columbia Basin College) led the Zias with 10 kills and a .421 hitting percentage. Outside hitter Irma Cobos (Jr., Kermit, TX/Kermit, H.S.) added 7 kills and 12 digs. Middle blocker Rachael Grant (Jr., Wenatchee, WA/Columbia Basin College) produced 7 kills and Maricela Santos (Jr., MB, Laredo, TX/Laredo C.C.) recorded 6 kills and had a .267 hitting percentage. Setter Lindsey Davison (Jr., Kelso, WA/Columbia Basin College) added 33 assists. The Zias swept past Western New Mexico in Silver City, N.M., Sept. 11. ENMU won 15-9, 15-9, 15-10. Three players earned double-digit kill totals for the Zias. Cobos provided 13 kills, 17 digs and a .310 attack percentage. Charlene Hunt (Sr., OH, Sacramento, CA/Sacramento City College) added 12 kills and 12 digs. DesMarais had 10 kills and 9 total blocks, while Davison supplied 35 assists and 14 digs. DAVISON
NAMED SETTER OF THE WEEK Davison recorded 68 assists during the week, an average of 11.3 assists per game. She also provided the Zias with 6 kills on 19 attacks for a .263 hitting percentage. She added 1 service ace, 19 digs (3.2 per game) and 3 block assists. For the year, Davison has 428 assists (11.0 per game) and 114 digs (2.9 per game). She also has 4 block solos and 12 block assists. Davison has played in every game (39 games, 11 matches). UP
