CROSS COUNTRY
The ENMU cross country teams host a dual meet with West Texas A&M on Sat., Sept. 26 as part of Homecoming Weekend. The men ran an 8-kilometer course, while the women ran a 6-kilometer course.

All five ENMU runners in the men’s race set season personal bests. Hunter Harris led the Greyhounds with a 3rd place finish in 28:52.83. Henry Varela took 5th place in a time of 29:45.11 and Gary Serna placed 6th in 30:28.00. Other ENMU runners were John Lomasney (33:27.92) and Tyrone Sunde (36:07.00).

West Texas A&M won the men’s race with a team score of 22, compared to ENMU’s score of 33. Chillan Wilfred won the individual title, finishing in 28:32.39. WTAMU’s Scott Eslick took second place in 28:41.49.

In the women’s race, West Texas A&M took the first four places, but did not win the meet because the Lady Buffs did not have a fifth runner. Cheryl Davis took individual honors with a time of 25:31.

Mindy Clark was the top finisher for ENMU. She clocked in with a time of 27:39.27 and took 5th place. Veronica Samaniego finished in 6th place in 28:17.29. Other top runners for ENMU were Michele Rice (29:05), Jennifer Voris (31:20) and Kristi Jenkins (32:41).

UP NEXT FOR THE GREYHOUNDS, ZIAS
Eastern’s cross country teams do not compete this week. The Zias and Greyhounds return to action on Sat., Oct. 10 at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. The women’s race starts at 8:00 a.m. (MST), followed by the men’s race at 8:45 a.m. ENMU closes out its 1998 schedule on Sat., Oct. 24 at the Lone Star Conference Meet at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
