VOLLEYBALL (10-5, 3-0 LSC, 9-match winning streak)
The ENMU volleyball team won both matches last week, improving its winning streak to 9 matches, while upping its overall record to 10-5. The Zias defeated LSC South Division rivals Angelo State (3-1) and Abilene Christian (3-1) to move ENMU’s LSC record to 3-0.

Eastern defeated Angelo State, 15-13, 15-8, 15-17, 15-3 in San Angelo, Texas, Sept. 25. Junior middle blocker Rachael Grant (Wenatchee, WA/Columbia Basin College) led the Zias with 21 kills and a .425 hitting percentage. Maricela Santos (Jr., MB, Laredo, TX/Laredo C.C.) garnered 13 kills and a .419 attack percentage.

Two other Zias finished with double-digit kill totals. Junior outside hitter Irma Cobos (Kermit, TX/Kermit H.S.) provided 13 kills and senior outside hitter Charlene Hunt (Sacramento, CA/Sacramento City College) added 10 kills. Overall, the Zias achieved a .223 team hitting percentage. Angelo State had 35 attacking errors and finished with a .133 hitting percentage.

Setter Lindsey Davison (Jr., Kelso, WA/Columbia Basin College) dished out 54 assists and earned 16 digs. Hunt led all players with 27 digs, while outside hitter Iman Josey (Fr., Anchorage, AK/East H.S.) contributed 26 digs.

Marci Sanders had 17 kills and added 24 digs for the Rambelles. Jennifer Tucker supplied 48 kills and 14 digs. ASU fell to 11-7, 1-2 LSC with the loss.

The Zias downed Abilene Christian 8-15, 15-10, 15-13, 15-6 in Abilene, Texas, Sept. 26. Grant provided 11 kills and Hunt added 8 kills as ENMU rallied after dropping the first game.

Davison guided the offense with 33 assists, and contributed on defense, earning 16 digs and 3 block assists. Grant added 2 service aces, 3 block solos and 4 block assists, and Josey led all players with 19 digs.

Brooke Freeman pounded out 14 kills and added 12 digs for Abilene Christian. Nicole Brenneman had 11 kills and 18 digs. Laura Alcoriza and Brittney Binder each totaled 18 digs.

Eastern finished the match with 5 block solos and 14 block assists. ACU made 16 serving errors, while ENMU committed just 2 serving errors.

ENMU has been impressive during its 9-match winning streak, taking 6 matches in 3 games and the others in 4 games. The Zias have earned a .198 attack percentage during the streak, while holding opponents to .075.

UP NEXT FOR THE ZIAS
Eastern New Mexico plays one more road match before returning to Greyhound Arena for a pair of LSC South Division matches this weekend.

The Zias travel to Plainview, Texas on Tues., Sept. 29 to take on Wayland Baptist (6:00 p.m. MST) in a non- conference match.

ENMU is at home against Tarleton State University on Fri., Oct. 2 (7:00 p.m. MST), and against Midwestern State University on Sat., Oct. 3 (2:00 p.m. MST). ENMU completes the first half of LSC South Division round robin play on Tues., Oct. 6 at defending national champion West Texas A&M. Match time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (MST) in Canyon, Texas.
