ZIAS MOVE UP TO #19 IN NCAA DIVISION II WOMEN’S TENNIS POLL
PORTALES, NM -- The Eastern New Mexico University women’s tennis team has moved up to #19 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Poll for NCAA Division II. The Zias, currently 19-8 overall, were ranked #24 in the previous poll.

Eastern’s new position at #19 gives the Zias their first ever appearance in the Top 20 of the National Poll. Overall, 40 teams from Division II are ranked by coaches in the ITA.

ENMU has played 14 of its 27 matches against other nationally ranked teams. ENMU is now ranked #6 in the Midwest Region. A total of 13 teams from the Midwest Region will be selected for NCAA postseason play, with one team automatically advancing to the National Finals and 12 other teams competing in three 4-team Regionals, May 7-9.

With its #6 Regional ranking, Eastern New Mexico is expected to be chosen for a Regional Tournament when sites, dates and pairings are announced tomorrow (April 28). ENMU qualified for Regional Tournaments in 1997 and 1998.
