GLADSTONE NAMED TO ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM AT WTAMU LADY BUFF CLASSIC
CANYON, TX — Eastern New Mexico University middle blocker Aubrey Gladstone, a junior from Kennewick, Washington (Columbia Basin College), has been named to the All-Tournament team for the Second Annual Plains National Bank Lady Buff Classic, held at West Texas A&M University, Aug. 27-28.

Gladstone helped the Zias earn a 3-1 record during the event, with ENMU’s only loss coming against Nebraska-Omaha, ranked #17 in NCAA Division II. Gladstone earned 28 kills and a .265 hitting percentage during the tournament. In four matches, she recorded 25 digs, 12 block assists, 3 block solos, and 3 aces.

Her 15 total blocks tied for the team lead, and her 25 digs placed her second on the ENMU squad. Gladstone earned 10 kills against Bellarmine College (Kentucky) and blasted 9 kills against St. Mary’s University (Texas).

Gladstone and the Zias opened the tournament with a 15-10, 15-17, 15-4, 15-11 victory over Bellarmine. The Zias lost to Nebraska-Omaha in the next match, falling 9-15, 3-15, 10-15. ENMU swept a pair of matches on Sat., Aug. 28, downing Colorado School of Mines, 15-13, 10-15, 15-2, 15-4, and sweeping St. Mary’s, 15-8, 15-3, 15-13.

Gladstone is in her first season at Eastern New Mexico. She previously played two seasons at Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Washington. She helped CBC win the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) East Region championship in 1997.

Eastern New Mexico was 23-10 last season, including 9-3 in the Lone Star Conference South Division. The Zias travel to Alamosa, Colorado this weekend to compete in the Adams State College Fall Brawl, Sept. 3-4. ENMU is scheduled to take on Central Oklahoma, Western New Mexico, College of the Southwest and Adams State.

The Zias play their first home game on Tues., Sept. 7 against Lubbock Christian (7:00 p.m. MST), and open LSC action on Fri., Sept. 17 at Texas A&M-Kingsville (6:00 p.m. MST).
