ZIAS REMAIN UNDEFEATED WITH 79-54 WIN
Bobbie Wallin Scores 15, Grabs 7 Boards

PORTALES, NM — Junior post player Bobbie Wallin (Moriarty, NM/Moriarty H.S.) scored 15 points to lead four Eastern New Mexico University players in double figures, as the Zias improved to 4-0 on the season with a 79-54 triumph over Cameron University, Nov. 30 at Greyhound Arena. Cameron dropped to 2-3 with the loss.

The contest was the second Lone Star Conference crossover game of the season for the Zias. ENMU defeated Southwestern Oklahoma, 66-49, on Nov 27 in the other crossover game. Crossover games do not count in the LSC divisional standings.

Wallin was joined in double figures by junior post/forward Katheryne Hickman (San Antonio, TX/Castle Hills Baptist H.S.) with 11 points, and by senior post Amanda Hewitt (San Antonio, TX/Madison H.S.) and junior guard Missy Frazier (Levelland, TX/South Plains College) with 10 points apiece. Wallin also provided 7 rebounds to lead Eastern to a 39-30 rebounding edge.

Junior guard Lenni Hartley (Roy, NM/Roy H.S.) and freshman guard Ginger Armacost (Lubbock, TX/Abernathy H.S.) each added 6 rebounds. Senior post Jenny Conaway (Midland, TX/ South Plains College) contributed 9 points and 5 rebounds, while junior guard Jody Avent (Stinnett, TX/South Plains College) led all players with 9 assists. The Zias built an 11-2 lead over the first five minutes of the game, and increased their lead to 18 points, 38-20, at halftime.

The Lady Aggies pulled within 12 points, 39-27, early in the second half, but never got closer. Cameron’s leading scorer was Keisha Craddock, who hit the nets for 12 points and also earned 6 rebounds and 3 assists. She was the only CU player to finish in double figures. Summer Bode added 9 points and three other players scored 7 each, but the Lady Aggies shot just 34.1% for the game (15 of 44) and committed 29 turnovers. ENMU shot 49.3%(33 of 67), including 53.1% (17 of 32) in the second half.

The Zias recorded 14 steals and blocked 3 shots. Brandi Bates (Jr., G/F, Plainview, TX/Plainview H.S.) had a solid all-around game, providing 7 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Eastern returns to action on Thur., Dec. 2 at Harding University in Searcy, Ark. Tipoff is at 5:00 p.m. (MST).

The Zias will remain on the road for a meeting with Ouachita Baptist University on Sat., Dec. 4 in Arkadelphia, Ark. Tipoff at OBU is set for 3:00 p.m. (MST).
