GREYHOUNDS FALL TO WAYLAND BAPTIST, 81-73
PLAINVIEW, TX — Jason Kinney and Tyron Manlove each scored 22 points, as Wayland Baptist University defeated visiting Eastern New Mexico University, 81-73, Dec. 17 at the Hutcherson Center in Plainview, Texas. Wayland Baptist upped its record to 10-2 with the win, while ENMU dropped to 3-7 with the loss.

Kinney and Manlove combined to sink 20 of 34 shots (58.8%) from the field. Each connected on 10 field goals, and both made 2 of 4 three-point attempts. The rest of the Pioneers converted just 14 of 40 shots (35.0%), including 1 of 6 three-pointers.

WBU held a 41-33 lead at halftime, thanks in part to a 3-pointer by Chris Brattain as the half ended. The Pioneers scored the first 4 points of the second half to take a 12-point lead, 45-33.

The Greyhounds rallied, eventually tying the game at 54-54. Later, ENMU trailed by just two points, 64-62, but the Pioneers pulled away during the game’s final minutes.

Junior guard Brandon Ridenour (Lovington, NM/New Mexico J.C.) led the Hounds with 20 points — his fourth 20-point game of the season. He sank 4 of 8 three-pointers. Heath Ridenour (Fr., G, Lovington, NM/Lovington H.S.), Brandon’s brother, added 15 points and made 5 of 7 three-point shots. The Ridenours combined for 35 points and 9 three-pointers on 15 shots outside the arc.

Other double-digit scorers for ENMU were senior guard Cord Wilburn (Artesia, NM/ Otero J.C.) and freshman guard Torry Peoples (Hobbs, NM/Hobbs H.S.). Wilburn scored 14 points and converted 4 of 7 three-pointers. He also earned 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal. Peoples added 12 points, 5 boards, 2 assists and 2 steals. Rob McCaskill (Jr., F/C, Greenwood, MS/North Lake C.C.) scored 8 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, while Keenan Browder (Fr., G/F, Gary, IN/Bishop Noll H.S.) contributed 4 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.

Kinney and Manlove of WBU were joined in double figures by Brattain and Anthony Deloach, each with 10 points. The Pioneers held a 53-40 rebounding edge, led by Manlove and Jesse Lee with 9 rebounds apiece. Deloach and Randy Williams each grabbed 8 boards.

Eastern New Mexico is idle until Dec. 30, when the Greyhounds open Lone Star Conference South Division action at Texas A&M-Commerce. Tipoff in Commerce, Texas is set for 6:30 p.m. (MST).
