BAPTIST DEFEATS GREYHOUNDS The Tigers held a slim, 25-24, lead over the Greyhounds at intermission, but hit 17 of 31 second half shots to win the game. ENMU shot 45.2% in the second half (14 of 31). ENMU was led by senior point guard Cord Wilburn (Artesia, NM/Otero J.C.), Who scored 20 points for the second consecutive game. He also provided 20 points in Eastern’s 68-62 win at Harding University on Thursday (Dec. 2). Wilburn sank 7 of 12 field goals — 2 of 3 three-pointers — and converted 4 of 5 free throws. The 5’9” team leader also topped the squad with 7 rebounds and 4 assists. He committed just 1 turnover and earned 1 steal. He has averaged 12.7 points and 5.0 rebounds in ENMU’s first seven games. Junior guard Brandon Ridenour (Lovington, NM/New Mexico J.C.) Added 15 points for the Greyhounds, and junior center Rob McCaskill (Greenwood, MS/North Lake C.C.) contributed 11 points and 6 rebounds. McCaskill was 5 of 7 from the floor. Keenan Browder (Fr., G/F, Gary, IN/Bishop Noll Institute) scored 9 points for ENMU. Freshman Torry Peoples (G, Hobbs, NM/Hobbs H.S.) Did not score, but grabbed 6 boards and earned 2 steals. Ouachita Baptist received 19 points from Jarris Kentle. Mauricio Watson added 12 points, and Josh Thompson supplied 11 points and 5 rebounds. Atif Williams totaled 8 points and 7 boards. ENMU achieved a 34-28 rebounding edge, but the Hounds could not overcome OBU’s second half shooting. Both teams protected the ball, with ENMU committing 8 turnovers and the Tigers losing the ball 6 times. The Greyhounds return to Portales, NM for a pair of games next weekend. Eastern will take on Cameron University on Fri., Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m. (MST) at Greyhound Arena. ENMU hosts Lubbock Christian on Sat., Dec. 11 at 1:00 p.m. (MST). |
