KATHERYNE HICKMAN NAMED LSC SOUTH DIVISION PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK
PORTALES, NM — Eastern New Mexico University sophomore post/forward Katheryne Hickman (6’0”, San Antonio, TX/Castle Hills First Baptist H.S.) has been named Lone Star Conference women’s basketball South Division Player-of-the-Week for the week ending Jan. 17.

Hickman helped the Zias win three road games in three days to retain sole possession of first place in the LSC South at 6-0. ENMU defeated Tarleton State, 53-51, on Thurs., Jan. 14, downed Texas Woman’s University, 69-50, on Fri., Jan. 15, and beat Midwestern State, 68-61, on Sat., Jan. 16.

The wins upped ENMU’s overall record to 12-3. Hickman averaged 12.7 points and 4.7 rebounds during the week, while connecting on 68.0% of her field goal attempts (17 of 25).

She scored 17 points on 8 of 10 shooting from the floor against Tarleton State, then provided 10 points on 5 of 9 shooting against Texas Woman’s. She concluded the three-game series with 11 points and 7 rebounds against Midwestern State. She sank a pair of key three-point baskets in the final 3:00 versus Midwestern State, as the Zias held off the Lady Indians to remain undefeated in LSC South Division games.

ENMU has won six games in a row, as well as 8 of its last 9 and 12 of its last 14 since losing the season-opener to Central Oklahoma, 73-71. Eastern New Mexico concludes its 5-game road swing with Lone Star Conference games at Texas A&M-Kingsville on Thurs., Jan. 21 (4:30 p.m. MST) and Texas A&M-Commerce on, Sat., Jan. 23 (3:00 p.m. MST). ENMU returns home for a non-conference game against Oklahoma Panhandle State on Wed., Jan. 27 at 5:30 p.m.
