RIPPEY NAMED SECOND TEAM Rippey, who joined ENMU this season after two years at Garden City C.C. (Kansas) and one season at East Carolina University (North Carolina), ranked 3rd in the LSC and 26th in NCAA Division II in scoring with 20.9 points per game and was 5th in the Conference in field goal percentage at 56.6%. Rippey was ENMU’s top scorer. He scored 543 points in 26 games, including 19 or more points in all 14 LSC South Division games. He averaged 26.2 points per game in Conference play. He finished the season on a roll, scoring 22 or more points in each of ENMU’s last nine games. Rippey was named LSC South Player-of-the-Week after scoring 29 points, providing 10 assists and grabbing 8 rebounds against Oklahoma Panhandle State in a non-conference game Jan. 27. The following week, he scored 34 points against West Texas A&M (Feb. 1), added 32 points against Texas A&M-Commerce (Feb. 4) and hit the nets for a career high 35 points against Texas A&M- Kingsville (Feb. 6). Overall, he scored more than 30 points four times during the season. “He was able to go out every night and be very productive as a scorer,” Head Coach Terry Tyler said. “He really helped our inside game ... causing problems for the other team’s defense. “He was very strong and was able to go inside and go against the bigger teams we played,” Tyler added. “He meant everything to the team because of his talent . . . scoring ... traps and double- teams ... rebounding. He was a leader and I think our players followed his example.” DERON
