GOODWELL, OK — Eastern New Mexico University rallied from a one-run deficit with 6 runs in the top of the 7th inning, as the Zias won the first game of a double-header, 9-4, over host Oklahoma Panhandle State on Sat., Mar. 6. The Zias shut out the Lady Aggies, 6-0, in the second game to complete the double-header sweep. ENMU improved to 8-13 on the season.

In the opener, ENMU trailed 4-3 with two outs in the seventh inning, but connected for 7 consecutive hits. The Zias scored 6 times during the inning, ultimately taking a five-run lead.

Pitcher Tracy Hooker (Fr., Fort Worth, TX/Bell H.S.), who recorded the win to improve to 3-4 on the season, held OPSU scoreless in the bottom of the inning. In the second game Eastern received a complete-game shutout from pitcher Adrienne Conner (Jr., Prescott, AZ/Glendale College). It was ENMU’s first shutout of the season, and evened Conner’s record at 4-4 overall. The Zias concluded the season series with a 3-2 record against the Lady Aggies, winning the final three meetings.

ENMU does not play again until Fri., Mar. 12 and Sat., Mar. 13 at the Missouri Southern Tournament in Joplin, Mo.
