ZIAS QUALIFY FOR LSC TOURNAMENT
Will play Central Oklahoma in First Round

PORTALES, NM — The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team has qualified for the 1999 Lone Star Conference Volleyball Tournament, set for Nov. 11-13 at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. The Zias finished second in the South Division, and will take on the third place team from the North Division, the University of Central Oklahoma, on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 5:00 p.m. (Central).

Three teams from each division qualify for the tournament. West Texas A&M (31-1, 12-0 LSC) will host the tournament as the South Division Champion. Eastern New Mexico (25-9, 8-4 LSC) and Abilene Christian University (22-11, 7-5 LSC) will also represent the South Division. Cameron University (26-4, 12-0) won the North Division title, and will be joined in the bracket by North Division foes Harding University (26-10, 9-3 LSC) and Central Oklahoma (19-11, 8-4). West Texas and Cameron will receive first round byes.

The match between Eastern New Mexico and Central Oklahoma on Thursday will open the tournament, and will be followed by the remaining first round match, pitting Harding against Abilene Christian at 7:30 p.m. (Central). The winner of the ENMU-UCO match will play Cameron on Friday, Nov. 12 at 5:00 p.m. (Central) in one semifinal match.

The Harding-Abilene winner will meet West Texas A&M in the other semifinal match on Friday at 7:30 p.m. (Central). The semifinal winners will meet for the LSC Tournament title on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. (Central).

Eastern New Mexico swept a pair of matches from Central Oklahoma during the regular season. ENMU defeated the Lady Bronchos, 13-15, 15-12, 15-6, 15-2 at the Adams State College Fall Brawl on Sept. 3. The Zias were also victorious, 15-10, 15-12, 15-10, in the second meeting, Oct. 23 at the Lady Buff Challenge at West Texas A&M.
