WACEY PRUIT OF FORT WORTH WINS TRIP
TO NFL GAME IN ENMU ATHLETIC PROMOTION
Eastern Raises Approximately $11,000 Through Fund-Raiser

PORTALES, NM — Wacey Pruit of Fort Worth, Texas is the lucky winner of a free trip to the Denver Broncos vs. Seattle Seahawks NFL game in Denver on Dec. 19. Pruit’s ticket was chosen the winner in an Eastern New Mexico University Athletic Department fund-raiser that concluded with the prize drawing at halftime of Eastern’s football game against West Texas A&M on Sat., Nov. 6 at Greyhound Stadium.

Individuals donating to ENMU Athletics received a ticket in the drawing for each $5 donation. Wood’s winning ticket was drawn from about 2,200 tickets distributed. The promotion raised approximately $11,000 for ENMU Athletics. Pruit, age 20, was encourage to make a donation by a friend from high school.

Pruit and ENMU junior transfer women’s basketball player Lisa Rollins both attended Boswell High School in Fort Worth. Rollins called Pruit during a phonathon to raise money for the ENMU Athletic Department. Pruit agreed to donate $5. The small donation paid off for Pruit.

On Saturday, his ticket was drawn, and on Monday morning (Nov. 8), he was notified of his newly acquired travel plans. “Very surprised,” Pruit said after receiving the news. “I wasn’t expecting it. I’m excited to go.” Pruit receives airfare courtesy of Mesa Airlines, with arrangements made through Holiday Travel of Clovis, N.M.

He also receives hotel accommodations courtesy of the Days Inn Denver West. The trip for two also includes free tickets to the Denver-Seattle game, $200 spending money, a John Elway jersey and an autographed football. Former ENMU football player Michael Sinclair, a top NFL defensive lineman, plays for Seattle.

Pruit is a junior at Texas Tech University. He is majoring in Management Information Systems, and hopes to develop and maintain computer networks for businesses. He takes his last final of the fall semester on Dec. 15, four days before the Broncos take on the Seahawks.

Who will Pruit root for during the game? “I’m a Cowboy fan,” Pruit said. “I’d go for Denver if I had to choose. I’ve actually never been to a professional football game. I’m supposed to go to my first Dallas game over the Christmas Break.” It will still be Pruit’s first Dallas Cowboys game. But now, thanks to a little luck, it will be his second trip to a National Football League game.

As a result of the successful fund-raiser, ENMU will be able to do more for its athletic teams. The ENMU Athletic Department coaches, athletes and staff thank everyone who helped with this promotion.
