COBOS NAMED LSC SOUTH HITTER-OF-THE-WEEK Cobos pounded out 59 kills in 14 games (4.2 per game) and earned a .283 hitting percentage during the week. She also recorded 62 digs (4.4 per game) and had 3 assists, 3 aces and 9 block assists. ENMU opened the week with a 15-12, 15-5, 15-8 victory over Wayland Baptist on Oct. 26. The Zias defeated LSC rival Midwestern State, 15-10, 15-6, 15-6, on Oct. 29, the defeated both LSC foe Tarleton State, 15-11, 11-15, 15-11, 15-9, and non-conference opponent Mesa State, 7-15, 15-6, 16-14, 15-3, on Oct. 30. All four matches were played at Greyhound Arena, where the Zias are 8-1 this season. Cobos provided a career high 24 kills in Eastern’s victory over Tarleton State. Her previous high of 22 kills was earned against Bellarmine College in the season opener Aug. 27. A four-year letterwinner, Cobos is second all-time at ENMU in kills, digs and service aces. She has earned 359 kills, 399 digs and 29 aces this season, giving her 1,233 career kills, 1,594 career digs and 129 career aces. Cobos was named Honorable Mention All-LSC South in 1997 and 1998. |
