PORTALES, NM — Senior setter Lindsey Davison (Kelso, WA/Columbia Basin College), who was recently named First Team All-Lone Star Conference South Division, has also received recognition for her success in the classroom.

She has been voted to the 1999 LSC South Division All-Academic Team. LSC South sports information directors voted on the All-Academic Team, choosing six student-athletes from 18 players who qualified for the LSC South Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Selections were based on both academic and athletic achievements.

Davison, a Biology major with a 3.57 cumulative GPA, set a school record with 1,498 assists this season, breaking her own record of 1,407, set in 1998. ENMU’s previous single season record was 1,240 assists by Stacy Estlund in 1997. Davison also became the Zias’ all-time assist leader with 2,905 career assists. Estlund (1996-97) was the previous record holder, with 2,393 assists.

Other LSC South All-Academic Team selections were Brittney Binder of Abilene Christian, Natalie Irvin of Angelo State, Sharon Lister from Tarleton State, and Sarah Butler and Brittany Bridge from West Texas A&M.

Student-athletes qualified for the LSC South Commissioner’s Honor Roll by earning at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average in all college level work and by completing a minimum of 24 semesters hours at their current college or university.

In addition to Davison, Eastern’s student-athletes on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll were Rachel Rackler (So., DS, Portales, NM/Portales H.S.), Stephanie Pratt (Jr., DS/S, Los Alamos, NM/Los Alamos H.S.) and Terra Mitchell (Fr. eligibility, DS, Dora, NM/Dora H.S.).

Rackler is undecided regarding a major at ENMU. She has a 3.33 GPA. Pratt, who is majoring in Biology, has a 3.78 GPA. Mitchell, a sophomore who did not compete in volleyball last season, has a 3.31 GPA and is undecided regarding her college major.
