LINDSEY DAVISON NAMED
FIRST TEAM ALL-LSC SOUTH
Mike Maguire Chosen LSC South Coach-of-the-Year

PORTALES, NM — Senior setter Lindsey Davison (Kelso, WA/Columbia Basin College), who set ENMU records for assists in a season and assists in a career, has been named First Team All-Lone Star Conference South Division. ENMU Head Coach Mike Maguire was voted LSC South Coach-of-the-Year.

Overall, the Zias had four All-Conference selections, including three players named to the Second Team. Eastern’s Second Team selections were senior outside hitter Irma Cobos (Kermit, TX/Kermit H.S.), senior right-side hitter Heather DesMarais (Yakima, WA/ Columbia Basin College) and junior middle blocker Aubrey Gladstone (Kennewick, WA/ Columbia Basin College).

Maguire guided the Zias to a 26-10 overall record, as the Zias recorded the third highest victory total in school history. ENMU was 8-6 in the LSC South, finishing in second place and earning an LSC Tournament berth. ENMU defeated Central Oklahoma in the first round before losing to Cameron University in the semifinals. Davison set a school record with 1,498 assists this season, breaking her own record of 1,407, set in 1998.

Prior to Davison, ENMU’s single season record was 1,240 assists by Stacy Estlund in 1997. Davison also became the Zias’ all-time assist leader with 2,905 career assists. Estlund (1996-97) was the previous record holder, with 2,393 assists. Both Estlund and Davison achieved their totals in two season after transferring to ENMU.

Cobos topped the 1999 Zias with 388 kills (3.1 avg.) and 458 digs (3.7 avg.). She ended her college career ranked second in three statistical categories. She finished second with 1,267 kills, 132 aces and 1,653 digs. She was just 20 aces short of Jennifer Goble Poyer’s (1991-95) record of 152, and was only 50 digs away from Stacy Tapper’s (1988-91) record of 1,703.

DesMarais earned 2nd Team All-LSC South honors for the second year in a row. She recorded 376 kills to rank second on the ENMU team. She led the Zias with a .274 hitting percentage and was second in total blocks with 133 (1.1 per game). In two seasons at ENMU, she totaled 688 kills and 268 total blocks.

Gladstone contributed 301 kills, 329 digs and 125 total blocks during the season. She finished the year with a .244 hitting percentage. Gladstone also was named to the LSC All- Tournament Team. She recorded 29 kills, hit .328 and provided 27 digs in Eastern’s two matches in the LSC Tournament.
