GREYHOUNDS FALL TO SW OKLAHOMA, 74-59
PORTALES, NM — Southwestern Oklahoma State University evened its record at 2-2 with a 74-59 road victory over Eastern New Mexico University, at Greyhound Arena on Sat., Nov. 27. ENMU fell to 1-3 with the loss. SWOSU zoomed out to a 13-4 lead and held a 42-30 advantage at halftime. Eastern New Mexico pulled within 9 points, 58-49, on a driving layup by Torry Peoples (Fr., G, Hobbs, NM/Hobbs H.S.) with 7:26 left in the game, but could not get closer.

The leading scorer in the game was Corey Johnson of SW Oklahoma. He scored 21 points, and led all players with 9 rebounds. Anthony Lumpkin added 13 points, 6 boards and 5 assists. Cedric Dale contributed 9 points and 6 rebounds.

ENMU’s top scorers were freshman forward Keenan Browder (Gary, IN/Bishop Noll Institute) and senior guard Cord Wilburn (Artesia, NM/Otero J.C.) with 13 points apiece. Wilburn also added a team-high 8 rebounds. Browder, junior center Kevin Stengem (Southlake, TX/North Lake C.C) and junior forward/center Rob McCaskill (Greenwood, MS/North Lake C.C.) each grabbed 7 boards for the Greyhounds. Stengem also provided 10 points.

SW Oklahoma held a slim 45-44 rebounding margin, but committed 5 fewer turnovers than ENMU (23-18). The Bulldogs shot 41.4% (29 of 70), while limiting Eastern to 32.8% (21 of 64).

The Greyhounds remain at home on Tues., Nov. 30 to take on New Mexico Highlands University at 8:00 p.m. (MST). The contest will conclude a double-header that begins at 6:00 p.m. (MST), when Eastern’s women’s basketball team hosts Cameron University.
