NEW MEXICO SWEEPS MIDWESTERN TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN LSC SOUTH MSU fell to 1-15 overall and 0-6 in the LSC South. Eastern New Mexico is tied with West Texas A&M for first place in the LSC South. The Zias travel to Canyon, Texas on Tuesday (Oct. 5) to take on the Lady Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m. (MDT). West Texas A&M is 20-0 overall and ranked #3 in NCAA Division II. In Saturday’s match with Midwestern State, the Zias received 11 kills and a .346 hitting percentage from Heather DesMarais (Sr., RS, Yakima, WA/Columbia Basin College). DesMarais completed an outstanding weekend that included 18 kills and a .630 hitting percentage against Tarleton State in a 3-0 road win on Friday. Irma Cobos (Sr., OH, Kermit, TX/Kermit H.S.) added 10 kills for ENMU against MSU. She also earned 10 digs. Senior setter Lindsey Davison (Kelso, WA/Columbia Basin College) added 33 assists, 6 kills (.500 pct.) and 14 digs for the Zias. Annette Luafalemana-Tanielu (Jr., OH, Kaunakakai, HI/Eastern Arizona College) provided 11 digs, and Christabell Mariner (Fr., Pago Pago, Amer. Samoa/Tafuna H.S.) recorded 10 digs. The Lady Indians were led by Ashley Hester with 16 kills and 7 digs. Lynsey Coleman had 12 kills and 10 digs, and Sarah Stallman earned 11 digs. ENMU limited MSU to a .083 attack percentage. Eastern finished the match with a .268 attack percentage. |
