SPLIT PAIR OF MATCHES AT LADY BUFF CHALLENGE Tanya Heyko (Jr., OH, Salem, OR/Chemeketa C.C.) led the way with 10 kills, a .444 hitting percentage and 9 digs. Aubrey Gladstone (Jr., MB, Kennewick, WA/Columbia Basin College) contributed 7 kills, 10 digs and 3 service aces, while Irma Cobos (Sr., OH, Kermit, TX/Kermit H.S.) added 7 kills and 7 digs. The Zias served well throughout the match, earning 10 service aces, while committing just 2 serving errors. TWU managed a .156 team hitting percentage. Tara Belak led the Pioneers with 9 kills and a .353 attack percentage. Aya Aharen recorded 8 kills and a .316 attack percentage. The Pioneers committed 9 serving errors. Against Cameron, the Zias won the first game, 15-11, but the Lady Aggies won the next three games to win the match. Heather DesMarais (Sr., RS, Yakima, WA/Columbia Basin College) was Eastern’s top hitter, with 18 kills and a .371 hitting percentage. She also recorded 2 block solos and 3 block assists. Heyko produced 12 kills and 9 digs, and Cobos supplied 8 kills and 10 digs. Senior setter Lindsey Davison (Kelso, WA/Columbia Basin College), who earned 31 assists against Texas Woman’s, added 47 assists in the match with Cameron. Davison, already ENMU’s career assist leader, passed the 2,500 mark and now has 2,521 assists. Davison added a match-high 16 digs against Cameron. Cameron received 21 kills from Lora Spencer and 16 kills from April Brockman. Maria Gonzalez connected for 14 kills, and Megan Smith tallied 60 assists. Spencer finished the match with 15 digs, while Gretchen McGeough recorded 12 digs. The Lady Aggies earned a .288 hitting percentage and limited Eastern to a .187 hitting percentage. The Zias are scheduled to play one match on Sat., Oct. 23 as the Lady Buff Challenge concludes. Eastern’s match will be against Central Oklahoma at 4:00 p.m. (Mountain). |
