HEATHER DESMARAIS NAMED TO ALL-TOURNMANET TEAM AT ADAMS STATE
ALAMOSA, CO — Eastern New Mexico University senior outside hitter Heather DesMarais (Yakima, WA/Columbia Basin College) was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Adams State College Fall Brawl, Sept. 3-4, in Alamosa, Colo.

DesMarais was one of eight players named to the All-Tournament Team. ENMU went 3-1 in the eight-team event, finishing in a tie for the second best record. DesMarais was finished the event with 51 kills, including a career high 19 kills against Western New Mexico.

She concluded Eastern’s four matches in the tournament with a .374 hitting percentage, 12 total blocks, 5 digs and 10 assists. ENMU defeated Central Oklahoma, 13-15, 15-12, 15-6, 15-2, and lost to Western New Mexico, 14-16, 14-16, 14-16, on Fri., Sept. 3.

On Sat., Sept. 4, the Zias swept College of the Southwest, 15-7, 15-7, 15-8, and took three consecutive games from Adams State, 15-6, 15-3, 15-9. The Zias are 6-2 on the season. Against Central Oklahoma, DesMarais earned 11 kills and 5 assists. She recorded 3 block solos and 1 block assist against WNMU in addition to her 19 kills.

In the Zias’ 3-0 win over College of the Southwest, she totaled 9 kills, 3 assists, and 2 block solos. DesMarais registered 12 kills, 1 block solo and 3 block assists in ENMU’s 3-0 sweep of host Adams State.

Eastern gets a rematch with intrastate rival Western New Mexico this coming Monday (Sept. 13), when the Zias travel to Silver City to take on the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. (MST).

The Zias open Lone Star Conference play at Texas A&M-Kingsville on Fri., Sept. 17 at 6:00 p.m. (MST).
