EASTERN NEW MEXICO TIED FOR SEVENTH IN NCAA DIVISION II FOOTBALL POLL
PORTALES, NM — The Eastern New Mexico University football team, currently 3-0 on the season, is tied for #7 in the first NCAA Division II Coaches Poll of the regular season, as selected by the Division II Football Committee.

The Greyhounds, who were not ranked in the Preseason Poll, have defeated Western New Mexico, 33-13, New Mexico Highlands, 54-7, and Ouachita Baptist, 23-0, in their first three games.

Carson-Newman College (Tenn.) is ranked #1 with a 3-0 record and 79 points in the poll. Northern Colorado (3-0) is ranked #2 with 76 points, and is followed by Central Oklahoma (2-0) at #3 with 70 points. Slippery Rock (Pa.) is ranked #4 with a 2-1 record and 69 points in the poll, while Nebraska-Omaha (3-0) is ranked #5 with 66 points. Tuskegee (Ala.) has a 3-0 record at #6 (56 points).

ENMU is tied for 7th with New Haven (Conn.), which also has a 3-0 record and 55 points in the poll. ENMU is one of three Lone Star Conference teams ranked this week. Central Oklahoma is the highest ranked LSC team (#3). Northeastern State (Okla.) is ranked #15 and has a 2-1 record.

Eastern will take on Northeastern State this Saturday (Sept. 25) in Tahlequah, Okla. Kickoff at NSU is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. (MDT).

The NCAA Division II Poll will be released weekly during the rest of the regular season. A total of 16 teams — four in each of four regions — will qualify for the NCAA Division II Playoffs, which begin on Sat., Nov. 20.
