GABE DeHOYOS NAMED PITCHER-OF-THE-WEEK
PORTALES, NM -- Eastern New Mexico University sophomore right-handed pitcher Gabe DeHoyos (Artesia, NM/Trinidad J.C.) has been named Lone Star Conference South Division Pitcher-of-the-Week for the week ending Apr. 2.

DeHoyos threw a complete- game victory against Cameron University on Fri., Apr. 1, as the Greyhounds defeated the Aggies, 3-0. DeHoyos struck out 4 batters during the game, while allowing 2 walks. He gave up just 5 hits -- all singles -- and lowered his team-leading earned run average to 3.16.DeHoyos, who has struck out 50 batters in 42 1/3 innings pitched, is 4-1 with 3 saves on the season.

ENMU recorded 4 hits against the Aggies. The Hounds scored twice in the fourth inning and once in the sixth to take control of the game. Dehoyos receives the Pitcher-of-the Week honor for the second time this season, having earned the title for the week ending Mar. 6, 2000. Eastern is 16-15-1 on the season.

The Hounds return to action tomorrow (Tues., Apr. 4) in a Tri-State Baseball, 9 innning contest at Lubbock Christian University. First pitch in the opening game is slated for 5:00 PM (MST).
