DAVID JONES NAMED LSC SOUTH
HITTER-OF-THE-WEEK

PORTALES, NM — Eastern New Mexico University junior shortstop David Jones (Sierra Vista, AZ/Eastern Arizona College) has been named Lone Star Conference South Division Hitter-of-the-Week for the week ending Apr. 9. Jones helped the Greyhounds win 3 out of 4 games in an LSC weekend series against Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Jones was 6 of 18 at the plate for a .333 batting average. He scored 7 runs for the Hounds, and also recorded 3 RBIs. He hit 2 triples and 2 doubles, as ENMU moved into sole possession of third place in the LSC South. Jones leads the team with 43 runs scored, 6 triples and 21 extra-base hits. He is second on the team with 5 home runs.

Jones has a .326 batting average and a .580 slugging percentage. He has recorded 69 putouts, 110 assists and 7 errors on defense (.962 fielding percentage). ENMU won the opening game of the series with TAMUK, 18-2.

The Javelinas won the second game, 5-3 in 10 innings. The Greyhounds took the final two games of the series, winning 4-1 and 5-1. The Greyhounds are 19-17-1 on the season and 6-4 in the LSC South.

The Greyhounds play LSC double-headers at West Texas A&M University on Friday and Saturday, Apr. 14-15. First pitch on Friday is set for 1:00 p.m. (MDT). The double-header on Saturday gets underway at 12:00 noon (MDT).
