RACHEL MOHLER NAMED
LSC SOUTH HITTER-OF-THE-WEEK
PORTALES, NM — Eastern New Mexico University sophomore third baseman Rachel Mohler (Las Vegas, NV/Green Valley H.S.) has been named Lone Star Conference South Division Hitter-of-the-Week for the week ending Apr. 16. Mohler helped the Zias go 5-1 during the week, while improving their record to 24-22 on the season and 5-7 in the LSC.

Mohler earned 8 hits in 19 at bats for a .421 batting average. She scored 6 runs and produced 7 RBIs. She hit 3 home runs during the week, giving her a school record 11 homers for the season. The old record of 9 homers was set by Mohler last season.

The Zias swept a double-header from the University of Texas-Permian Basin on Apr. 11, claiming both wins by 8-0 scores on the run rule in five innings. Eastern concluded the week by winning 3 of 4 games versus Texas Woman’s University, Apr. 15-16.

Mohler was particularly solid against TWU. She hit a solo home run in the first inning of the first game, helping ENMU win 3-2. She hit another homer — a two-run shot — in the first inning of the third game, but the Zias lost 10-8. Her 2-run blast in the fifth inning of the final game scored the tying and winning runs in a 3-2 win. The Zias also won the second game of the series, 4-1.

ENMU closes out the regular season with a pair of double-headers at Abilene Christian on Friday, Apr. 21 and Saturday, Apr. 22. First pitch on Friday is set for 4:30 p.m. (MDT), with Saturday’s action slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. (MDT).
