CHRIS JACKSON FROM ARIZONA WESTERN SIGNS ENMU BASKETBALL SCHOLARSHIP
PORTALES, NM — Chris Jackson, a 6’4”, 205-pound forward from Arizona Western College in Yuma, Ariz., has signed an athletic scholarship to play on the Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball team.

Jackson is the second junior college player — and the third new player overall — signed by first-year Head Coach Shawn Scanlan. Jackson played on two outstanding teams at Arizona Western. He helped the Matadors earn a 24-8 record this past season on their way to the Regional Final. During his freshman year in 1998-99, Arizona Western earned a 25-8 overall record, won the Regional championship and advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan.

As a sophomore, Jackson averaged 11.5 points per game and grabbed 5 rebounds per contest. He was very active on the court for AWC, and recorded 54 steals, averaging nearly 2 steals per game. He will likely be used as a swing forward when he joins the Greyhounds this winter.

Jackson is originally from Spartanburg, S.C. He graduated from Spartanburg high school.
