LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN HOLDS OF HOUNDS, 57-54
LUBBOCK, TX — Lubbock Christian University built a 33-26 halftime lead, then held off Eastern New Mexico University, to defeat the visiting Greyhounds, 57-54, at the Rip Griffin Center, Dec. 9. LCU remained undefeated, improving its record to 8-0. ENMU fell to 2-6 on the season.

The Chaparrals received 19 pints and 7 rebounds from Rick Henderson, who sank 6 of 14 field goals, including 3 of 7 three-point shots. Dusty Middleton added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 three-pointers, while James Omondi contributed 11 points and 8 rebounds.

ENMU shot 43.5% for the game (20 of 46), while limiting LCU to just 34.0% (18 of 53). The Chaparrals overcame their poor shooting by connecting on 7 three-pointers and limiting the Greyhounds to 4 three-point baskets. LCU also forced 20 turnovers, while committing 15 turnovers.

The Greyhounds’ starting backcourt of Rudy Charles (Fr., Las Vegas, NV/Durango H.S.) and Brandon Ridenour (Sr., Lovington, NM/New Mexico J.C.) led ENMU in scoring. Both players provided 14 points on 5 of 10 shooting. Ridenour was 4 of 7 on three-point shots, and Charles went 4 for 4 at the free throw line.

Kevin Iverson (Jr., G, Chicago, IL/Elgin C.C.) scored 9 points, hauled down 7 boards and dished out 5 assists. Garland Coleman (Fr., G/F, Chicago, IL/Homewood-Flossmoor H.S.) led all players with 12 rebounds to go with 5 points. Brenton Robinson (Jr., F/C, Tucson, AZ/Central Arizona) scored 8 points for the Greyhounds.

Eastern New Mexico’s next game is Sat., Dec. 16 at Western New Mexico University. Game time in Silver City, N.M., is set for 7:00 p.m. (MST). ENMU defeated the Mustangs, 96-76, in Portales, N.M., Dec. 7.
