KEVIN IVERSON NAMED LSC SOUTH PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK
PORTALES, NM — Eastern New Mexico University junior guard Kevin Iverson (Chicago, IL/Elgin C.C.) has been named Lone Star Conference South Division men’s basketball Player-of-the-Week for the week ending Dec. 17, 2000. Iverson scored 24 points as ENMU defeated cross-state rival Western New Mexico University, 85-80, in a road game Dec. 16. The win improved the Greyhounds to 3-6 on the season.

Iverson not only scored 24 points, but also grabbed 11 rebounds, provided 3 assists and earned 1 steal. He was 8 of 13 (61.5%) from the floor and 8 of 10 at the free throw line.

Iverson played 37 minutes and was one of three ENMU players to score more than 20 points. Garland Coleman (Fr., G/F, Chicago, IL/Homewood-Flossmoor H.S.) also scored 24 points, while Rudy Charles (Fr., G, Las Vegas, NV/Durango H.S.) added 21 points.

For the season, Iverson is Eastern New Mexico’s top scorer, with 16.1 points per game. He is second on the squad in rebounding with 6.0 boards per contest and is also second in assists with 2.6 per game. He has connected on 57 of 104 field goals (54.8%).

ENMU, which has won 2 of its last 3 games, is idle until Dec. 30, when the Greyhounds host Wayland Baptist University in a non-conference contest. Tipoff at Greyhound Arena is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (MST).
