INCARNATE WORD SINKS 7 OF 10 3-POINTERS IN 80-69 WIN OVER GREYHOUNDS
AUSTIN, TX — The University of the Incarnate Word connected on 7 of 10 three- point shots, as the Crusaders defeated Eastern New Mexico University, 80-69, Dec. 2 in the St. Edwards University Howdy Honda Basketball Classic. UIW improved to 5-2 on the season, while ENMU dropped to 1-5.

Incarnate Word built a 39-27 halftime lead. The first-half cushion allowed UIW to hold off ENMU, which shot 64.0% in the second half (16 of 25), and outscored the Crusaders, 42-41, over the final 20 minutes. UIW also shot well in the second half (16 of 26, 61.5%).

The Crusaders gained the 11-point win with their solid three-point shooting plus a 28-22 rebounding edge. Robert Tovar led Incarnate Word with 17 points, while hitting 2 of 2 three- point attempts. Derrick Lang added 16 points, including 3 of 3 from behind the 3-point arc.

Chris Jackson sank 5 of 6 field goals and 1 of 2 free throws to score 11 points for UIW. Courtney Jackson and Kyle Milson each supplied a game-high 8 rebounds. Milson also scored 15 points and made 2 of 3 three-point shots.

For the Greyhounds, senior guard Brandon Ridenour (Lovington, NM/New Mexico Junior College) led the way with 17 points. Ridenour was 6 of 9 from the floor, and sank 3 of 5 three-point attempts. Kevin Iverson (Jr., G, Chicago, IL/Elgin C.C.) contributed 15 points and 7 rebounds, while converting 7 of 11 field goals. He also supplied 3 assists and 4 steals.

Brenton Robinson (Jr., F/C, Tucson, AZ/Central Arizona) and Zach Bullock (Fr., F/C, Fairbanks, AK/North Pole H.S.) also reached double figures, with each providing 11 points. Robinson also recorded 4 boards and 2 blocked shots, while Bullock went 3 of 3 from the field, made 5 of 6 at the line, and hauled down 4 rebounds. ENMU freshman guard Rudy Charles (Las Vegas, NM/Durango H.S.), who scored 19 points on Friday (Dec. 1) against St. Edwards, was held to just 7 points by Incarnate Word.

UIW shot 57.1% for the game (32 of 56), while ENMU shot 56.5% (26 of 46). The Hounds committed 25 turnovers, and UIW lost the ball 21 times. Both teams recorded 10 steals.

Including an exhibition loss at the University of New Mexico, the Greyhounds have played just one of seven games at home. ENMU will play its second home game on Thursday, Dec. 7, against cross-state rival Western New Mexico University. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. (MST).
