GREYHOUNDS ROUT MUSTANGS, 96-76 Charles Scores 25, Ridenour Adds 22 for Greyhounds
PORTALES, NM — The Eastern New Mexico University Greyhounds shot 50.8% from the field (33 of 65) and earned a 41-31 rebounding edge to rout visiting Western New Mexico University, 96-76, Dec. 7 at Greyhound Arena. With the win, ENMU improved to 2-0 at home and 2-5 overall. WNMU fell to 0-4 on the season.

The Greyhounds were led by the backcourt tandem of freshman point guard Rudy Charles (Las Vegas, NV/Durango H.S.) and senior shooting guard Brandon Ridenour (Lovington, NM/ New Mexico J.C.). Charles scored a game-high 25 points on 8 of 14 shooting and 8 of 8 at the line. Ridenour followed with 22 points, including 5 of 7 on 3-point shots and 6 of 10 from the field overall. Ridenour also provided 3 assists, while Charles added 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.

ENMU led 17-9 just 5:08 into the game and held a 22-point lead, 51-29, with 1:58 left in the half. The Greyhounds were in front 53-38 at halftime.

The Mustangs scored the only basket for either team in the first two minutes of the second half to pull within 13 points, 53-40. Eastern scored the next four points to start a 19-9 run that increased the lead to 72-49 with 10:13 remaining.

Charles and Ridenour led four Greyhounds in double figures. Kevin Iverson (Jr., G, Chicago, IL/Elgin C.C.) added 16 points and Garland Coleman (Fr., G/F, Chicago, IL/ Homewood-Flossmoor) chipped in 13 points. Iverson also led all players with 11 rebounds. Coleman supplied 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.

Nickolas Frey paced the Mustangs with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Brian Jackson sank 5 of 6 field goals for 10 points, and added 6 rebounds. Antonio Anderson and Jason Houlihan each contributed 8 points.

ENMU plays again on Saturday, Dec. 9 at Lubbock Christian University. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (MST).
