VOLLEYBALL TEAM SIGNS SAN ANTONIO SETTER
PORTALES, NM — Mike Maguire, head volleyball coach at Eastern New Mexico University, has announced the signing of an incoming student-athlete to a National Letters of Intent. The high school senior who will be a Zia next fall is Margie Goble from San Antonio, Texas (Holmes H.S.).

Goble, a setter, is expected to make a strong challenge for a starting position on the 2000 ENMU volleyball team. Setter Lindsey Davison (Sr., Kelso, WA/Columbia Basin College), earned First Team All-LSC honors each of the past two seasons, but has completed her eligibility. Davison set ENMU records for assists in a season (1,498 in 1999) and assists in a career (2,905 in 1998 and 1999).

Goble is the sister of current ENMU Athletic Events Manager Jennifer Goble Poyer, who played at Eastern from 1991-95. Jennifer is ENMU’s all-time leader in kills (1,687), aces (153) and blocks (791).

Margie Goble was a three-time letter winner in high school. She helped her high school team advance to the Regional quarterfinals each year. She often led her team in both assists and kills, and she was named to the All-Tournament Team at the prestigious, 32-team Pearland High School Tournament. She plans to double major in Communications (Broadcasting) and Kinesiology.
