LINEBACKER MICHAEL WALTON PLAYS
IN 7th ANNUAL SNOW BOWL

FARGO, ND — Eastern New Mexico University senior middle linebacker Michael Walton (5’10”, 215 lbs., Earth, TX/Texas Tech Univ.) played for the victorious West squad on Sat., Jan. 15 at the 7th Annual Snow Bowl. The game was played at the Fargodome in Fargo, N.D., with the West edging the East 24-22.

Walton was credited with 4 tackles (2 solo, 2 assists) in the Snow Bowl. He was also involved in several other stops, including a powerful tackle on a kick return by the East. Walton concluded his ENMU career as the Greyhounds’ all-time leader with 515 tackles. He made 58 tackles for losses and recorded 15.0 quarterback sacks. He helped the Hounds earn back-to-back 8-3 records in 1998 and 1999.

The Greyhounds tied for the Lone Star Conference South Division title in 1999 with a 6-3 LSC record. While pursuing a major in Special Education, Walton has excelled in the classroom. He was named to the LSC All-Academic Team each of his final three seasons (1997, 1998, 1999), and was voted to the GTE Academic All-District First Team in 1999.

The East squad took a 14-0 second-quarter lead in the Snow Bowl. The West rallied with a pair of field goals, plus two touchdown passes by Harlon Hilll Trophy winner Corte McGuffey (University of Northern Colorado).

The West, which led 21-14 at the end of the third quarter, added a field goal in the fourth period before the East ended the scoring with a touchdown and a two-point conversion.
