TAMU-COMMERCE DOWNS GREYHOUNDS, 80-46
COMMERCE, TX — D’Andre Davis scored 19 points and Jermaine Thomas added 15 points, as Texas A&M University-Commerce defeated Eastern New Mexico University, 80-46, in the Lone Star Conference opener for both teams, Dec. 30 in Commerce, Texas. TAMU-Commerce improved to 6-3 overall, while ENMU fell to 3-8.

Davis connected on 8 of 12 field goals and Thomas sank 7 of 10 shots from the floor. Thomas also recorded game highs with 14 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. TAMU-C shot 48.5% for the game (32 of 66), while limiting ENMU to just 30.2% (16 of 53).

ENMU, with several team members unavailable for the game, played with just six players. The Greyhounds were left with five players when Torry Peoples sustained a leg injury with 15:00 remaining.

Heath Ridenour (Fr., G, Lovington, NM/Lovington H.S.), the only non-starter for ENMU, led the Greyhounds with 16 points. Ridenour connected on 4 of 9 three-pointers, and also grabbed 5 rebounds for the Hounds. Keenan Browder (Fr., F, Gary, IN/Bishop Noll Institute) added 14 points on 5 of 11 field goals (one 3-pointer) and 3 of 3 free throws.

Junior forward/center Rob McCaskill (Greenwood, MI/North Lake C.C.) hauled down 9 rebounds for ENMU. TAMU-C placed four players in double figures. In addition to Davis’ 19 points and Thomas’ 15 points, the Lions received 12 points from Levonis Miller and 10 points from Jeff Sabin.

TAMU-Commerce finished the game with a 43-30 rebounding edge. Eastern New Mexico returns to action on Tues., Jan. 4, when the Greyhounds host Tarleton State University. Tipoff at Greyhound Arena is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. (MST).
