ENMU BASKETBALL COACH SHAWN SCANLAN SIGNS FIRST PLAYER TO ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP
PORTALES, NM — Shawn Scanlan, head men’s basketball coach at Eastern New Mexico University, has announced the signing of his first recruit to an athletic scholarship for the 2000-01 season.

The first newcomer to join the Greyhounds is Garland Coleman, a guard from Homewood-Flossmoor High School near Chicago, Ill. Coleman joins two returning players from last season, senior guard Brandon Ridenour (6’2”, Lovington, NM/New Mexico Junior College) and senior forward/center Rob McCaskill (6’8”, Greenwood, MS/North Lake C.C.). Also returning for the Greyhounds is redshirt freshman center/forward Zach Bullock (6’7”, North Pole, AK/North Pole H.S.).

Coleman, from Flossmoor, Ill., averaged 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game for Homewood-Flossmoor this past season and was named to the SICA East All-Conference team.

Head Coach Roy Condotti led the 1999-2000 Homewood-Flossmoor team to an 18-9 overall record, including a loss to eventual State Tournament participant Bloom High School in the Regional Finals.
