ENMU AT INCARNATE WORD TOURNAMENT
SAN ANTONIO, TX — The Eastern New Mexico University softball team split a pair of games on the opening day of the Incarnate Word Tournament, Mar. 9 in San Antonio, Texas.

The Zias defeated Northwood University (Texas) in the opener, 2-0, before losing to powerful Oklahoma City University, 1-0 in the second game. ENMU is now 14-10 on the season.

Freshman pitcher Dawn Hunt (Carlsbad, NM/Carlsbad H.S.) struck out 9 batters against Northwood to earn the shutout victory. She limited the Knights to 2 hits.

Enida Rosales (Sr., 2B, Glendale, AZ/South Mountain College) went 2 for 4 for ENMU. Kim Paschall (Jr., CF, Midland, TX/Midland H.S.) added 2 hits in 3 at bats for the Zias.

In the second game, the Zias held down Oklahoma City’s high-powered offense. Even so, a leadoff homer in the first inning gave the Stars the only run needed to win the defensive contest.

ENMU pitcher Adrienne Conner (Sr., Prescott, AZ/Glendale College) gave up just 5 hits in 6 innings and shut down the Stars after the opening homer.

The Incarnate Word Tournament continues on Fri., Mar. 10 and Sat., Mar. 11. The Zias then play a double-header at Oklahoma Panhandle State University on Tue., Mar. 14.
