JENNIFER HARRER, LSC PITCHER-OF-THE-WEEK
PORTALES, NM — Eastern New Mexico University junior right-handed pitcher Jennifer Harrer (Albuquerque, NM/Hope Christian H.S.) has been named Lone Star Conference South Division Pitcher-of-the-Week for the week ending Mar. 12. Harrer earned three complete- game victories during the week, as ENMU went 5-3 to improve to 16-12 on the season.

Harrer recorded wins against Trinity University (2-1), William Woods (7-1) and East Central (7-2). She also provided three innings of scoreless relief in games against Oklahoma City and the University of Mobile. She was 3-0 during the week, with 24 innings pitched, 24 strikeouts and a 0.88 earned run average.

ENMU began the week with a double-header sweep at Trinity in San Antonio, Texas. The Zias concluded the week by going 3-3 at the Incarnate Word Tournament. ENMU earned a 2-2 record in pool play, then won its first round elimination game against East Central (Okla.), before losing in the second round to Mobile, 5-1.

Harrer’s 2.65 ERA is the second lowest on the ENMU pitching staff. She has recorded a 5-3 record, while striking out 62 batters in 63 1/3 innings pitched. Her last five decisions have all been victories.

Eastern New Mexico, in its fourth year of intercollegiate competition, is well on its way to the program’s first winning season. The Zias return to action on Tues., Mar. 14, in a double-header at Oklahoma Panhandle State University. The first game is scheduled to start at 12:00 noon (MST).
