GABE DeHOYOS NAMED LSC SOUTH
PITCHER-OF-THE-WEEK
Gabe DeHoyosPORTALES, NM — Eastern New Mexico University sophomore right-handed pitcher Gabe DeHoyos (Artesia, NM/Trinidad J.C.) has been named Lone Star Conference South Division Pitcher-of-the-Week for the week ending Mar. 5.

DeHoyos threw a complete-game victory against East Central University on Fri., Mar. 3, as the Greyhounds defeated the Tigers, 14-0. He struck out 11 batters during the game, while allowing 4 walks, and gave up just 3 hits -- all singles -- lowering his team-leading earned run average to 3.54. DeHoyos, who has struck out 31 batters in 20 1/3 innings pitched, is 1-0 with 2 saves on the season.

ENMU recorded 14 hits against the Tigers. The Hounds scored once in the second inning and 6 times in the third stanza to take control of the game. The contest was Eastern’s opening game in the LSC First Pitch Tournament hosted by Tarleton State.

ENMU achieved a 2-1 record during the tournament. The Greyhounds were 2-2 overall during the week.

Eastern is 6-10-1 on the season, including three one-run losses. The Hounds return to action tomorrow (Tues., Mar. 7) in a Tri-State Baseball double-header at Wayland Baptist University. First pitch in the opening game is slated for 12:00 noon (MST)
