KIM PASCHALL NAMED
TO GTE ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT FIRST TEAM
Receives Award for Second Consecutive Year
PORTALES, NM — Eastern New Mexico University softball center fielder Kim Paschall (Jr., CF, Midland, TX/Midland H.S.) has been named First Team GTE Academic All-District VI for the second consecutive year. A total of 11 players were named First Team All-District VI as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Paschall owns a 3.649 cumulative grade point average while majoring in Marketing at ENMU. She was chosen First Team All-LSC South and was named to the LSC South All-Academic Team this spring. She hit .348 for the Zias, while scoring 28 runs in 47 games. She tied for 9th in the LSC with 0.60 runs per game.

She earned 19 RBIs, provided 4 doubles and added 2 triples. She was successful on 5 of 6 stolen base attempts. In three seasons with the Zias, Paschall has earned 162 hits, scored 103 runs and provided 40 RBIs. She has a .353 career batting average.

The Zias achieved a 25-25 overall record during the 2000 season under second-year Head Coach Kathleen Rodriguez. It was the first .500 season in the four-year history of the ENMU softball program. The Zias were 6-10 in the LSC South, but won 3 of 4 games against powerful Texas Woman’s University and remained in the race for the LSC Tournament until the final weekend of the season.

CoSIDA District VI includes colleges and universities in New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas. Players nominated for the GTE Academic All-District Team were starters or key reserves with cumulative GPAs of 3.2 or higher (4.0 scale). Each player had to be at his current college or university for at least one full year.
