OPEN LSC TOURNAMENT WITH VICTORY OVER CENTRAL OKLAHOMA ENMU will take on West Texas A&M, 31-1 and ranked #3 in NCAA Division II, in the semifinals at 4:00 p.m. (MST) on Friday, Oct. 10. In Friday’s other semifinal, set for 6:00 p.m. (MST), host Cameron University, 21-12, will take on Abilene Christian University, 29-5. ACU defeated Texas A&M University - Commerce, 15-11, 7-15, 15-13, 15-12, in the second first round match. WTAMU and Cameron received first round byes. Goble now holds the ENMU record for assists in a single season, with 1,506 assists in 35 matches this year. The old record (1,498) was set by Lindsey Davison last season. Mariner, in addition to producing double-digit totals for kills and digs, led the Zias with 4 service aces and contributed 5 total blocks. She increased her ENMU record for kills in a season to 553. The previous record of 505 kills was set by Jennifer Goble Poyer in 1992. Jenny Gledhill (Jr., RS, West Jordan, UT/Sheridan J.C.) added 14 kills, 11 digs and 6 total blocks for the Zias. She also led all players a .393 hitting percentage. Tanya Heyko (Sr., OH, Salem, OR/Chemeketa C.C.) and Jessica Rowley (Jr., OH, Dallas, OR/Clackamas C.C.) each tallied 9 kills for ENMU. Heyko added 12 digs and Rowley earned 11 digs. Central Oklahoma was paced by Alma Brahimaj, who led all players with 26 kills. She also achieved 20 digs. Katy Wallace connected for 15 kills, while Lexy Fortner added 12 kills and 16 digs. Stacey Meek provided 47 assists, and Twyla White earned 15 digs. The Zias finished the match with a .171 hitting percentage. The also earned 3 block solos and 22 block assists. Eastern limited the Lady Bronchos to a .160 attack percentage. |
