ZIAS DEFEAT TARLETON STATE, 15-3, 15-5, 16-14
PORTALES, NM — The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team defeated Tarleton State University, 15-3, 15-5, 16-14, in a Lone Star Conference match, Saturday, Nov. 4 at Greyhound Arena. ENMU upped its overall record to 24-10, while improving to 6-4 in the LSC South. Tarleton State dropped to 5-28 overall, 0-10 in the LSC South.

Christabell Mariner (So., MB, Pago Pago, Amer. Samoa/Tafuna H.S.) led the Zias with 15 kills, while adding 5 digs and 4 blocks. Tanya Heyko (Sr., OH, Salem, OR/Chemeketa C.C.) contributed 7 kills and led the Zias with 17 digs. Jenny Gledhill (Jr., RS, West Jordan, UT/Sheridan J.C.) chipped in 9 kills with only 1 error and achieved a hitting percentage of .571. Freshman setter Margie Goble (San Antonio, TX/Holmes H.S.) racked up 32 assists, with 6 kills and 7 digs.

Mariner set a new ENMU record for kills in a season. She now has 518 kills, breaking the old record of 505, set by Jennifer Goble Poyer in 1992.

Tarleton State was led by Amanda Wallace with 10 kills, 3 digs and 3 solo blocks. Lacey Adkisson scored 7 kills and led the team with 14 digs. Setter Mary Domine contributed 29 assists and added 9 digs.

The Zias close out the regular season on Monday, Nov. 6, when they host Wayland Baptist University. Match time at Greyhound Arena is set for 7:00 p.m. (MST).
