STEVEN TODD NAMED LSC SOUTH SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK FOR THIRD TIME THIS SEASON
PORTALES, NMSteven Todd, a 5’10”, 175-pound freshman punter at Eastern New Mexico University, has been named Lone Star Conference South Division Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for the third time during the 2000 season. His most recent selection was achieved as a result of his efforts in ENMU’s 23-21 loss to Abilene Christian on Saturday, Sept. 30. Todd, from Lubbock, Texas (Frenship H.S.), was also named LSC South Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for his punting against New Mexico Highlands on Sept. 9 and Midwestern State on Sept. 16.

In ENMU’s Homecoming loss to ACU, Todd averaged 38.3 yards on three punts, kicking mostly into the wind and avoiding a fierce ACU punt rush. He successfully kicked two other punts on plays where the Wildcats were called for roughing the kicker. One of those punts went for 49 yards to the Abilene Christian 1-yard line, but was negated by ACU’s roughing penalty.

The Greyhounds, 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the LSC South, will play at Angelo State University on Saturday, Oct. 7. Kickoff in San Angelo, Texas is set for 6:00 p.m. (MDT).
